LEGO The Hobbit #79012 Mirkwood Elf Army Review

Here's a review made by FBTB. Since I hardly look around now, I might just share of what I bumped into. Since I quit collecting this theme, I guess I might just need to sit aside and drool all over.

For those that are building army, this set is just right, I mean look at the amount of minifigs that you are going to receive from this set plus the newly coloured warg. For minifigs collectors like me, is definitely a yay but for those that are looking for display in grand scale might be a little put off by the wall and tree. Maybe, TLG expect us to buy more than one to self modify the wall and tree?

I wonder how much here is going to price it, I mean look at #79006 The Council of Elrond and #79108 Stagecoach Escape, both set were priced at RM210 and RM230 respectively (if I recall right) while #79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spider is priced at RM145, look how big the gap is. If the greed continues, then is no doubt this set is going for RM230 here due to high amount of minifigs and a warg. Anyway ALJ will be drive out soon, so let's see. People will still import them if the price is high in retail shop anyway.

LEGO The Hobbit #79014 Dol Guldur Battle Review

Here's another review that has been written by another member on the new LEGO The Hobbit playset. I think both of them did a good job, especially in taking the pictures and the very well written one which I think is helpful.

Completed Set

Back then I'm very good in remembering the set, but now my memory got worsen. Well this is the largest set for this second release. You get a lot of new minifigs from this set, maybe not Gandalf and I think is priced fairly, which I agree with the reviewer since getting them on Bricklink is not cheap either.

The set seems to have a lot of playability and I think if you are into photography, this set might makes a good set. Just imagine that you have a stretch of wall to use as a background (of course you need to apply the sticker), and you have some playability which you can use to shoot your pictures as well.

LEGO The Hobbit #79011 Dol Guldur Ambush Review

The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug is coming to the cinema real soon and we have the new LEGO playset released not long ago. There's reviewed been done in Eurobricks and I think the playset looks as great as the one in first wave.

The review is very well written and it tempt me to get the set. I'm still trying to resist to get back to this theme. The minifigs are great and we do see some new shoulder armor. Although the playability is a bit common (I mean the way the bricks are put to create this function) but is better than none and kids might be happy with this playability. Other things this set can do is the combination with #79014 Dol Guldur Battle.

If you plan to create a little army of orcs, this set seems to be suitable, otherwise get it off from Bricklink which I think it might cost more at the end of the day since you have to get the weapon separately. But by doing so you do not need to have a repetitive Beorn. Such custom figs might fetch good price after the set discontinued perhaps?

LEGO The Hobbit Lake Town Chase

Other than LEGO Super Heroes that are being revealed, we have the other theme that have their set shown to us as well. Below is the picture of LEGO The Hobbit Lake Town Chase taken from FBTB:

Well the first picture from the right does look like Orlando Bloom, does he plays two roles in The Hobbit? :P The set comes with 5 minifigs, but the boat is really a turn off, plus the two building which are small in size does not help either. The set comes with 334 pieces and will be selling at $49.99. For more pictures, click HERE.

LEGO Lord of the Rings #10237 The Tower of Orthanc Review

Here's the review of the tallest LEGO LOTR structure for the time being from Rufus in Eurobricks. Below is a picture taken from his review:

This tall set have a lot of interior hidden behind the structure, and I guess there is where all the playability are. The tower is impressive, however, displaying this set is really a challenge, where and how to keep it dust free especially. I believe all of the LOTR fans are getting a copy of this while for the local, it pretty much depends on the budget to afford a set like this.

Hi-res Images of LEGO Castle 2013

The Castle theme is coming back after Lord of the Rings take over the line, but am glad that the Castle theme made a come back. However, I still feel there is something lacking compare to the previous Fantasy Era theme.

#70403 Dragon Mountain

They do bring back the Dragon, but the design seems a little kiddy and not that appealing to me but there is definitely a great small set to build your army. So, is pretty much your call whether to build your new army or not.

For those that want to see the hi-res picture of the whole line, click HERE.

More LEGO Lord of the Rings Images

This are something even much older than the UCS X-wing review, below are the hi-res images that are posted by grogall:

#79005 The Wizard Battle

#79006 The Council of Elrond

Guess that pretty much about the upcoming LOTR set, more new minifigs to collect, but not for those that already done with the fellowship. But for a completest, I guess to have all of them is a must. With the Tower of Orthanc being revealed, I guess the fans can no longer escape from Sauron grip.

To view all the images in hi-res, just head on to Brickshelf and search for grogall.

Upcoming LEGO Lord of The Rings Images

I've not touch my blog for awhile now and sure left out a lot of news that are happening within this week and the past week. Is time for me to update my blog now. Is nothing new and instead is the oldest news of last week.

#79007 Battle at the Black Gate

#79008 Pirate Ship Ambush

Thanks to Grogall for these hi-res images. #79007 Battle at the Black Gate is more like a way to milk our money by introducing new minifigs. It is a just a gate, seriously. On the other hand  #79008 Pirate Ship Ambush seems to be quite popular here among the local AFOL, no idea how it turn out on other places, but is definitely something that we are looking forward for.

LEGO The Hobbit Exclusive Bilbo Baggins from DVD / Blu-ray

There are already pictures of Bilbo Baggins minifigs that comes with The Hobbit blu-ray or DVD uploaded on Brickset today. I have not collected any of The Hobbit set yet and I suppose this minifigs will hot affect me much. Below picture are from Brickset:

Bilbo Baggins Bilbo Baggins

Guess I'm still safe at the moment, but for those that loves this theme a lot might be picking up one copy of this DVD? Maybe for those that only interested with the movies might sell them off at a pretty good price, but at the same time, I am wondering if this will be the catalyst that bring many adult back into the LEGO world. The Shell promo is a success here in Malaysia.

LEGO The Hobbit #79002 Attack of the Wargs Review

I enjoy reading those review that comes with a nicely captured photos of the LEGO set that they review, no matter how old the set was. Below here, is one of the cool picture from FBTB:

3. Overview

The amount of minifigs that came with the set are pretty good plus the 2 new wargs which some fans are expecting them so much, not to mention they looks pretty good. The design of the tree and the rock are pretty interesting too if you do not mind the playability. The rocks especially might be very useful for you to decorate the your city especially the forest.

LEGO Castle - August

This is what comes after Kingdoms, again the two factions are the Lion and the Dragon battle against each other. Is good to have the castle theme back again after a year break, thanks to The Lord of the Rings. The line is set to come back on August this year. Below are pictures and information taken from FBTB's Flickr photostream:

70400 Forrest Ambush
$11.99 USD
90 pieces

70401 Gold Getaway
$19.99 USD
199 pieces

70402 The Gatehouse Raid
$29.99 USD
248 pieces

70403 Dragon Mountain
$49.99 USD
376 pieces

70404 Kings Castle
$99.99 USD
996 pieces

Currently there are five sets coming, not sure if there are any hidden exclusive set which are not shown here.  I don't think this new Castle line can be a financial issue unless you build army. Looking at the smallest set in this line, it is a good news for those army builders, but your castle or city street might full of stray dogs. The carriage looks very good too, I believe the prison works better than the one of Kingdoms which is too narrow for a minifig to stand properly. Of course the two large set did pretty well too. Now that the new horse have their head armor, there seems to be something missing, maybe be horn that shall be attached to the armor?

LEGO Lord of the Rings - June

There are more Lord of the Rings set that are coming our way, for those that still have not completed the current release of LEGO Lord of the Rings, is time to stay focus and complete them as soon as possible before more sets are release for this theme.

79005 The Wizard Battle
$12.99 USD
113 pieces

79006 The Council Of Elrond
$29.99 USD
243 pieces

79007 Battle At The Black Gate
$59.99 USD
656 pieces

79008 Pirate Ship Ambush
$99.99 USD
756 pieces

The only set that attracts my attention for this second release are the Pirate Ship Ambush and maybe The Council of Elrond. I believe the Pirate Ship Ambush are something worth investing in and will fetch a good price in the after market. There are also some interesting new character  from LEGO too. At least not too many useless clones.

LEGO The Hobbit #30212 Mirkwood Elf Scout Review

Here’s a review on one of the polybag set from The Hobbit. Though the story focus more on the dwarf itself but here’s a polybag from LEGO featuring an elf scout.

TH_0012

This is a small set but from the part perspective, it seems fine since we will have barrel, fire piece, printed round piece with mushroom pattern and of course accessories. Though there are not much of a tree part, but the set do seems like it comes with a lot of things.

LEGO Lord of the Rings Elrond Review

I did not manage to update all the review that are posted up in Bricks Review yesterday and as such I am continuing today. Here's the other review that I have not manage to update in my blog which is The Lord of the Rings exclusive Elrond review. Below is a picture taken from Bricks Review:

LOTR_0011

For minifigure collector, whether or not this is one time production or we will be seeing in playset (which I doubt), this is a must have to complete the whole minifigs collection for the LOTR theme. Well, at least this minifig is still purchasable at somewhat affordable price compare to those of SDCC exlusive.

LEGO The Hobbit #79010 The Goblin King Battle Review

I believe this is something fresh from Bricks Review on New Year. At the moment it seems to be the largest set from The Hobbit line. Below is the picture taken from Bricks Review:

IMG_2764

There are a lot of cool pictures taken and I think is a pretty long review. If you planning to get this set, perhaps you might want to take a look at it. This set is no doubt comes with a lot of accessories and cool minifigs, which is some collectibles to have all the 12 Dwarves. The playability seems good too. Part wise I'm not too sure but there seems to be a lot of stickers needed to make it looks better.

LEGO Lord of the Rings #30210 Frodo's Cooking Corner Review

Here's another Lord of the Rings polybag set that is been reviewed yesterday by Bricks Review, Frodo's Cooking Corner, or whatever it is called. Below is a picture taken from Bricks Review:

IMG_2462

I'm sure many do not really like this set or even think of owning one especially those that already have Gandalf Arrive (#9469) playset since you will have the same minifigs from that set. After looking at the review this set was not bad at all and I think is a very good set for those of younger age.

LEGO Lord of the Rings #30211 Uruk-Hai with Ballista Review

New reviews though not new set has been posted on Bricks Review yesterday, and below is a picture taken from the review:

IMG_2484

I think this set sells very well in the other part of the world as they are cheap and affordable plus suitable for army building. However, the price here are not so good even if you check in Ebay or other site that sell it. The best set for army building is to source for cheap Uruk-hai Army playset here.

LEGO Castle Legends 2013

Rumor said that next year the castle theme will be back and it might be the reissue of the old LEGO Castle set, which is a good news. So far no pictures available yet, but below are the list of what is coming our way.
#70400 Forest Ambush
#70401 Gold Getaway
#70402 The Gatehouse Raid
#70403 Dragon Mountain
#70404 Kings Castle

The above list are taken from Hoth Bricks, and it seems like we will have dragon coming our way again?

LEGO Lord of the Rings #9472 Attack on Weathertop Review

One review has been posted so far in Bricks Review for this month. Though the review is not of any recent released playset, but still readable. Picture below is taken from Bricks Review:

IMG_5283

This set seems good and there is a good amount of minifigs included the two horse and not to forget the amount of accessories and the spare accessories provided to you. The Weathertop looks great as well, and the interior which have microfigs and torch makes the ruin looks more old.
